The Workers Compensation Insurance Organizations (“WCIO”) takes your privacy seriously.  We use the information you voluntarily provide, together with information regarding the manner in which you use this web site (the “WCIO Site”), to improve the WCIO Site and to provide our users with current information.  WCIO is committed to data security, and to protecting our members’ and other web site users’ personal information.

 

Information Gathered on the WCIO Site

 

We collect two types of information from visitors to the WCIO Site:

 

1.       Contact, survey and feedback information voluntarily provided when a user requests information from WCIO using a form on the WCIO Site or sends an e-mail to us.  You do not need to disclose any personally-identifiable information to view the WCIO Site.

 

2.       Information automatically collected from our visitors when they access the WCIO site, such as information about traffic patterns on the WCIO Site, the total number of users logging into the WCIO Site on a daily basis, which page users access, the URL from which each user comes to the WCIO Site, the URL to which each user exits, the type of browser used by each user, and the IP address from which a user accesses the WCIO Site.

 

No Use of Cookies

 

The WCIO Site does not utilize cookies, small text files placed on a user’s hard drive that are used by some web sites to retain information about visitors and for record keeping purposes.

 

Use of Information Gathered on the WCIO Site

 

Information which is voluntarily provided to us is used to contact users for the purpose for which the information was provided.  In addition, we  may from time to time use this information to contact users about different or updated WCIO products and services.

 

Information automatically collected from users of the WCIO Site is used internally to improve the WCIO Site and the services we provide our members and others.

 

Sharing of Information Gathered on the WCIO Site with Third Parties

 

Information provided by any user of the WCIO Site will be kept private and will not be disclosed except as may be required by applicable law.  WCIO may share aggregated data and statistical information about users and the use of the WCIO Site with its Webmaster and other parties.  Aggregate data excludes information identifiable by individual.

 

Data Security

 

To protect your privacy, please do not use e-mail or this WCIO Site to communicate information you wish to be kept strictly confidential.  Although WCIO will take reasonable measures to protect the security of the information transmitted between browsers and the WCIO web server, including using secure socket layer (SSL) encryption technology and firewalls where deemed appropriate by WCIO, you acknowledge that any transmission of data may be illegally intercepted and thereafter used by third parties.  WCIO shall not be responsible for any interception of data transmitted to or from our WCIO web server.

 

Correction and Opt-Out Procedures
